HOW TO GET TO EVERY HAKUBA SKI RESORT FROM HAKUBA MATATA

The free ski shuttle buses in Hakuba are a brilliant way to get around. You can access 10 different resorts within a 35 minute drive from Hakuba Matata. When looking online it can be a bit overwhelming to get your head around exactly HOW to use the shuttles to get where you want to go. Never fear! We are making it easy by spelling it out for you. This is how to get to every ski resort in the Hakuba Valley from Hakuba Matata.

The below information is for the 2022/2023 season. We will update it when the new timetables are released.

How to get to Happo One Snow Resort

Bus 6 – access from Grove Inn Skala stop (right out front)
– Ride 3 stops to Nakiyama (ticket window and lifts to access whole resort)
– Ride 5 stops to Sakka (beginner slopes where most lessons will take place. Ticket window and lifts to access whole resort)

Handy hint: You can walk to Nakiyama lift at Happo One in 10-15 minutes if you’d like. Cut through the forest and follow past the ski jumping stadium. No need for timetables with this active option!

Happo Shuttle Bus from Hakuba Matata (Bus 6)

  • Departs Grove Inn Skala 8:20 8:55(Nakiyama only) 9:20 10:20 11:00
  • Returns from Sakka  13:00 14:00 15:00 15:45 16:30
  • Returns from Nakiyama 13:12 14:12 15:12 15:57 16:42

How to get to Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park

Bus 22 – access from Grove Inn Skala stop (right out front)

Handy hint: Also walk-able in 15 minutes during the colder months. A snow bridge forms across the river enabling you to cross and walk home easily.

  • Departs Grove Inn Skala 8:00 9:00 10:30 13:30
  • Returns from Hakuba47 13:00 15:00 16:00 17:00

How to get to Goryu Iimori Slope

2 Route – access from Grove Inn Skala stop (right out front)

Iimori (Part of Goryu/47 Resort) Shuttle Bus from Hakuba Matata (Route 12)

  • Departs Grove Inn Skala 8:00 9:00 10:00 12:30
  • Returns from Iimori 12:00 15:00 16:00 17:00

How to get to Goryu Escal Plaza

Route 2 – access from Grove Inn Skala stop (right out front)

Goryu Shuttle Bus from Hakuba Matata (Route 2)

  • Departs Grove Inn Skala 8:00 9:00 10:00 13:30
  • Returns from Escal Plaza (Goryu) 13:00 15:00 16:00 17:00

How to get to Iwatake Snow Field

Two options:
1. Bus 4 – Departs Hotel Oak Forest bus stop (200 m walk)
Small shuttle bus with many stops. Final destination is Iwatake base area.

2. Bus 3 – Departs Hakuba Chapel stop at the Echoland roundabout (500m walk)
Large bus with only four stops to the Iwatake base area. Recommended.

Iwatake Shuttle Bus from Hakuba Matata (Bus4)

  • Departs Hotel Oak Forest 8:40 10:20
  • Returns to Oak Forest 14:15 15:15 16:15

How to get to Tsugaike Kogen Snow Resort

Bus 9 – Departs Hakuba Base Camp (at bottom of Echoland – can use bus 6 to transfer)
Direct journey to Tsugaike Base.

Tsugaike Shuttle Bus from Hakuba Matata (Bus 9)

  • Departs Base Camp 8:00 9:40
  • Returns to Base Camp 16:20

How to get to Hakuba Cortina and Norikura Snow Resorts

HV2 – Departs Hakuba Bus Terminal.
Free with a “Hakuba Valley” lift pass, or 510yen if you buy your pass on arrival at the ski resort.

Stops at Norikura first, then Cortina

Cortina Shuttle Bus

  • Departs Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal 07:20 09:26 11:56
  • Returns from Cortina to Happo Bus Terminal 13:30 15:40 17:25

How to get to Sanosaka, Kashimayari and Jigatake

HV1 – Departs Hakuba Base Camp (at bottom of Echoland – can use bus 6 to transfer)
Free with a “Hakuba Valley” lift pass, or 510yen if you buy your pass on arrival at the ski resort.
